The sauna and steam room are a significant point of concern for gym members. Multiple members describe these amenities as being in poor condition, citing a persistently unpleasant and "discussing" smell that raises health concerns and deters use. Members note that despite staff cleaning efforts, the facilities require more rigorous, professional daily maintenance due to their high usage. The overall experience of these recovery amenities is currently compromised.
Staff
The staff receives consistent praise for being friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Specific management is highlighted, with members noting that Javi, the manager, is exceptional for his active work ethic, cleaning equipment, helping members, and setting a high standard for the location. Other staff members, including a curly-haired woman with glasses and polite gentlemen, are commended for their enthusiastic greetings and assistance.
Additional Amenities
This gym offers a variety of equipment, including new top-of-the-line machines in a dedicated "Lab" or "leg lab" room, which features new squat racks and hip thrusters. The facility provides group fitness classes with great instructors, though these classes are frequently reported as being full. A cinema room has been remodeled into the dedicated leg room. Note that access to the leg lab requires an upgrade to the highest membership tier.
Location & Expansion
This location on Ajo and 16th is described as being too small for its current demographic and member volume, leading to significant overcrowding, especially during rush hours. Members parking at the adjacent bowling alley or bank is common. There are repeated member requests for a larger facility on the south side of Tucson that includes childcare, an amenity offered at other Chuze locations but not at this one. Members report driving 30-45 minutes to other Chuze locations to access childcare and less crowded spaces.
